Pray to the Moon when She is round,
Luck with you will then abound,
What you seek for shall be found
On the sea or solid ground.

Thoughts While Nursing: Guarding the Underworld

Underworld Guardian, incarnation #1
I grew weary of all that reading. Rejecting a pile of new books, I took a break & worked on one of my neglected pet projects for a couple (nursing) days. Please let me introduce my "Underworld Guardian." I don't have a name for her. (Do you?) She was conceived last spring, but put on hold due to things like birth & babies. Ironic, no? I've been feeling dark recently, so returning to an image that began as the focal point of an Underworld shrine seemed fitting. I can imagine her appearing in various backgrounds --  this one just sort of evolved out of a photo of a cloudy moon I took last winter. I began with wanting the pomegranate to appear illuminated & ended with this. I don't know that I will use this incarnation for the shrine, but I liked it so I thought I would share -- just as we are reaching another full moon too! I am amused that she seems quite cheerful; more cheerful than me. Perhaps it is because she holds the wisdom of the mysteries in her hand.

I love this. I can certainly relate to feeling 'dark' of late (thus my prayer). I'm dedicated to the Goddess of the Underworld even on the best and most routine of days, but I've been undergoing some serious personal transformation of late. I am feeling Her presence in my life stronger than ever before. And it is terrible...and beautiful.

"terrible... and beautiful" yes.

i am glad you like it. i get these visions in my sleep. this is where my tributes to Faunus & Fauna arise, i thank Them for the blessings of artistic inspiration in my dreams. these dreams are a relatively new phenomena (a year or two now) but when i get a vision, it feels almost compulsory to manifest it. sometimes it is even agitating -- very difficult with small children. sometimes i wish i had been given this gift before i had my babies, but i realize there is some purpose in the timing. for now i can only wonder.
