Pray to the Moon when She is round,
Luck with you will then abound,
What you seek for shall be found
On the sea or solid ground.

Poetry for the Esbat: A Blue Corn, Hazel, Remember-Who-You-Are Moon. (2013)

Bee & flower. They are part of everything.
Bee & flower. They are part of everything.

If I were doing my bioregional Full Moon naming, I might call this Blue Moon the "What the helvella happened to Summer Moon?" or "When will we see Her again Moon?" But I'm not.

Tree & polypore. They are part of everything.
Tree & polypore.
They are part of everything.
In the fall-ish frenzy of back-to-school-ing & fundraising & watching stray Drama Llamas chew up the pastures, I have been trying to pull back & remain mindful of perspectivism.

Sometimes, in the fray of it all, it is easy to forget that we are also part of it All.

I often find that quite ironically, my pagan community causes me to feel more distanced, neglectful, forgetful of the core of my beliefs. Sometimes, they simply serve as a stark contrast -- a reminder which illustrates, spotlights or reinforces my personal values.

Hawk & prey. They are part of everything.
Hawk & prey.
They are part of everything.
Like the ceremony I attended two days ago which was, in the mind of the officiant, designed to "heal the land," yet it was so filled with contradictions & human-centric values that my head still spins.

Ah, humans. Ever so categorical, ever forgetful that we are part of Everything.

So I turn to the voice of another human, a stranger I love from afar, to offer the words, the poetry for this Esbat. I am so thankful for his gift of verse. These are the words I feel in my breath, in my blood, in my bones.

I venerate the Moon, just as She is, because I believe in uncomplicated relationships, relationships that don't obscure my connection to everyone, everything, relationships that respect the diverse & unique value that each of us brings to the Whole.

She is. I am. As are you.

We are all part of Everything, each in our own way, with our own individual parts to play in this great Web of being. May we be ever mindful of the Whole.

Slime mould & decaying wood. They are part of everything... & when I look at them, I see Her. And myself. And you.
Slime mould & decaying wood. They are part of everything...
& when I look at them, I see Her.
And myself.
And you.

Blessings to you this Esbat, my friends.

Your writing is so beautiful. I truly feel the Remember-Who-You-Are-Moon, the days of summer drawing to a close bring us to remember how we have spent the months, and who are now, how we have changed for and because of them. Thank you for helping me to remember whats important <3

Thank you Suzanne, it is peculiar though, the writing. I often feel as if I am just the scribe for one who speaks through me. If that makes any sense at all. Your words are lovely too & these in particular, speak to me:

"...the days of summer drawing to a close bring us to remember how we have spent the months, and who are now, how we have changed for and because of them."

How remarkable it is when we take a moment to pause, look at our footprints & reflect.
