Pray to the Moon when She is round,
Luck with you will then abound,
What you seek for shall be found
On the sea or solid ground.

For the Files: Notes on Nomad Meditations Week 1

A White Face in the shadows.

A few notes I jotted down in my notebook, I now transfer here for safekeeping. For the record, for myself, regarding my meditation experiences with the Spiritual Nomad E-Course (Week 1):

Meditations at the Night Altar of Breakfast Canyon:

Night Altar Day 1

(Full Moon) see (Snow) Moonrise Over Mother & Child

Night Altar Day 2

Remember. Remember breathing.
Holding baby. Rocking.
Bright, bright Moonlight. Shadowy pasture.
A sudden White Face in the darkness. Shock & chill.
Wild geese on the ponds. So noisy.
The rising star breaks the horizon. Then, higher, higher.
The Moon.
The canyon yawns.
Black cow appears from the darkness.
Listen.
Her steps. Weight.
Her breath. Heavy & deep.

Night Altar Day 3

Remember.
The light reflecting off the clouds. Stepping stairs, bricks, blocks of wispy white.
They are building a cathedral in the sky. A vaulted ceiling, crowning the heavens.
Encircling my Earthly space.
I have never seen anything like it before.
Cattle call to each other across the river.
Baby breathes softly.
The red planet rises rapidly across the sky.
What is the hurry?

Night Altar Day 4:

Remember.
First breath. Breathing in. Breathing out.
Coyotes break out in shrill, cacophonous voices from the shadows.
Then, dogs. All of them. From every quarter, they respond.
The air is tense. I feel surrounded, alert, alive.

Baby is indoors. Crying. Goodnight.

Night Altar Day 5:

Sleep.

Night Altar Day 6:

Remember.
Breathing in, breathing out.
There is no Moon. Only the red planet.
In the darkness, the streetlight seems bright.
Noisy truck. Noisy truck. Noisy truck.
Quiet.
What is that?
Cows breathing, murmuring. Geese honking.
And the river.
I hear the river.
Never before have I heard the river.
I sit and listen to the water journey beyond the pasture.
What a beautiful voice it has.

It's amazing what is out there when we listen...

Isn't it though? We silly humans get so caught up in pictures & forget to use our other senses. I was truly thankful for the reminder.
