Pray to the Moon when She is round,
Luck with you will then abound,
What you seek for shall be found
On the sea or solid ground.

Stamets: "If I Die Trying..."

"I believe Nature is a force of good. Good is not only a concept, it is a Spirit..." -- Paul Stamets

The fungal-fantastical. Emerging from their axial homes, fungi are beginning to be understood as nutrients to the human consciousness and ecological sustainability. Paul explores mycology and compels support for your own good nature and our fungal allies. This is the first in a collaboration of Louie Schwartzberg of Blacklight films (Movingart.tv) and Paul Stamets of Fungi Perfecti (fungi.com).

This is Sciento-Paganism.

Only a stupid person would believe that Nature is not the most intelligent living thing in existence. Aren't we living proof?

This clip has warmed my heart. Thanks for sharing it.

I am so glad it warmed your heart. It was the nicest thing to wake up to this morning, even if I got all teary-eyed :)

Hey Moma, you fungus loving mother. I need to tell you that in my day job, I am a clinical microbiologist. In that world, Mycology pertains to the identification of those species of yeasts and molds that wreck havoc on the human body.....the "fungus is friend" concept is not really part of my day to day walk. But, this posting and its clip, reminded me of the useful saprophytic place these creatures have in our world..I will ponder this the next time my husband lays a coupla Portobello shrooms on the grill....

Awesome! I knew I liked you. ;) I missed my science career thanks to a red-backed vole. (It's more complicated than that actually... I'm working on that story, slowly.)
I have a pal who is a microbiologist for a crime lab (yikes!). Mostly, she deals in DNA, but on occasion, she gets a fungus. You folks have the most fascinating & incredibly horrifying occupation.
I myself have mixed feelings about my precious fungi. You can love them, adore them, revere them, but don't turn your back on them because really, they are the ones who shall inherit the Earth.

My pleasure derryth! I am so pleased when someone wanders by & finds something that touches them in my rogue Pagan gab. It isn't for everyone (& I don't even try) but I hope it will help bring together a few kindred spirits so that we might share ideas, learn & grow with each other. :)
