Pray to the Moon when She is round,
Luck with you will then abound,
What you seek for shall be found
On the sea or solid ground.

Transforming "Spiritual Warfare": Back to Business

Freedom. Simply beautiful. Can you live without Her? *

Oh how a High Day can wreak havoc on the rest of one's projects.

Now that Samhain's pandemonium has passed, it is time to recap, remember, reaffirm & resume the project I began back on October 4th, when those wonky, theocracy-driven DC-40 folks began their prayer siege targeted at our religious freedoms. Their schedule is fast & furious & I have fallen WAY behind. Good thing I am working with the clean up crew because I would have failed as a defensive agent.

I left off on Day 22, Iowa's day "in the crosshairs." (Their words, not mine.) There's a full listing of their prayer campaign schedule (along with a fantastic & eloquent rant by my erudite friend) here: 40 Days of Light, To Bring Back the Darkness. Texas is next.

Why am I doing this? Because I believe in this:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
& because I am a believer in the power of magick (perhaps you call it "energy work," "prayer power," "zero point field exercises" or "affirmations," etc.).

Now, probably the most widely used definition of magick comes from our outstandingly bright, but wildly dubious chum Crowley: (magick is) "the Science & Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will." He further asserted that "any required change may be effected by the application of the proper kind & degree of Force in the proper manner, through the proper medium to the proper object." The brilliant (& too often overlooked) Dion Fortune remodeled this definition to some degree thusly: (magick is) "the art of changing consciousness at will" -- meaning that by changing one's consciousness, one can effect changes in the world. Regardless of which interpretation you personally prefer, the fact is that this prayer siege is attempting to accomplish, by either definition, a magickal act (& a highly questionable one, at that).

So, what to do, what to do? There a a whole slew of answers to this, many of which are shared at the Hail Colombia website. Some folks are having large public ceremonies, others are doing private counter magick, communing with/praying to Colombia (some see her as a distinct goddess, others as D.C.'s genius loci), etc. Over at The Gods Are Bored, Ms. Johnson is working on her own counter-prayer campaign by writing interviews with local Bored Gods for each state. I highly recommend it.

What was my plan of action?

Ah, yes. My "Mushroom Hatred Remediation Program," a term coined by that clever woman over at Desultory Philippic. Here's my reminder to myself:
"...when it gets down to showtime, no matter how well constructed, eloquently versed, or stimulating to the imagination a published spell may be, I always seem to go with my own creation... Some people will choose traps, protection, deflection, binding or reversals... Many people are feeling the need to tap into the gods, ancestors or Nature spirits... I believe it is important to work with what you know, as well as work with what is fitting for the work needed. After much deep consideration... I decided that it was most appropriate to appeal to the saprophytic agents of change, my beloved brokers to the underworld & entreat them to absorb & transmute the combative energies targeted at our homelands."
You can read the whole plan in it's entirety here: Transforming "Spiritual Warfare": Day 1 (Hawaii), but that covers the gist & rereading it helps me refocus on the task at hand -- spiritual toxin clean up.

Freedom *
So, Texas, then Florida. Then Michigan, Arkansas, Missouri... Dear readers, if you have any thoughts, ideas, experiences regarding these states, any iconic gems for the imagination, helpful tidbits for visualization or better still, a knowledge of the fungi that inhabit the forthcoming targets, I welcome your input (this applies to the entire rest of this list). Please, leave a comment or send me a message. A personal touch can only enhance the effectiveness of my efforts. I have lived or traveled in a little over half of the U.S. states (many of which I have already covered), the rest are entirely up to my intuition. Intuition is a good thing, but so is a little help from your friends.

May I be blessed with dreams of fungi & freedom so that I may do important work tomorrow.
